A Texas construction worker who had escaped death by hiding in a bathroom while a gunman opened fire at the Madden NFL 19 video game tournament last month was killed in an unrelated car crash, authorities said Monday.

Ryen Aleman, 25, of Robstown, was driving in Corpus Christi at around 3:45 a.m on Sunday when he lost control and flipped his car. He was ejected onto nearby train tracks, Texas Department of Public Safety officials said.

Aleman wasn’t wearing a seat belt during the single-car crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
