Federal prosecutors charged two St. Charles, Missouri, men Thursday after kilograms of fentanyl were found in separate apartments. Ruben Lopez, 27, and Jonathan Aguilar, 31, were arrested after one kilogram of fentanyl was found inside an apartment.

Officials obtained a warrant to open a package that was sent to an apartment. Detectives found a brick of fentanyl hidden inside clothes.  “Through our strategic, investigative operations we removed more than 1.5 million potentially lethal doses of poison from hitting the streets of St. Charles County,” said William J. Callahan of the DEA St. Louis Division.

Lopez and Aguilar are charged with possession with the intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.
