A Florida man was struck and killed by a car while helping another stranded motorist, and the driver then took off with the victim’s car.

Dhimitri Andoni, 22, was aiding a motorist who was having car troubles. When he walked back to his 2015 Hyundai, he was struck by a 1996 Ford F-150 allegedly driven by Dana Thomas Byrd, 30. Byrd got out of his car, saw that Andoni was dead, and drove off in the Hyundai, later abandoning it.

Byrd was arrested later that day, where he was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.
