A teacher in Port St. Lucie, Florida, claims that she was fired after she gave zeroes to students that didn’t turn in their work.

Diane Tirado says that she gave zeroes to those who did not turn in their notebook projects, when she noticed a clause in the teacher’s handbook that stated they could give no lower than a 50% for assignments.

Tirado says her termination letter did not give a reason, only saying that she could be released at-will due to her being a contracted teacher on probation period. She is now calling for change in the school, saying that the 50% rule sends the wrong message to students.
