Police and Kansas City Health Department officials reportedly threw away an entire group’s batch of prepared food meant for homeless people.

Officials approached the “Free Hot Soup” group, which aims to provide hot meals for the homeless, and told them that they would have to throw away the food themselves or the officials would do it. The group was accused of improperly serving food without a permit.

3 locations were shut down, with group members recording officials dumping out the food and pouring bleach onto it. Members of the “Free Hot Soup” group say that they had never had any issues with the health department before, saying that there was a “mutual respect.” However, officials say that the group had been warned multiple times before.
